If its not broke...

  Okay, so new DA layout. For some reason my messages are in the far right corner, the shop button is more prominent and in my face where the messages used to be, so ill have trouble trying not to click that. While the more button might be more simpler and easier than just going over to the deviant art button and looking through all of it there wasn't much need to do so since anyone who took their time to read what was on it could figure out what was what real quick. The submit button is easier to catch and is the most noticeable, but it would have been fine not being a big bright green button.

Then there's the matter of the secondary dash when you log in.
  We got "Today" which will give you the categories with some pictures like "whats hot" or whats popular which shows the popular deviations. "daily deviations" which shows which pictures have been awarded daily deviations. "today's news" which give you news related deviations which I can guess is just journals. "explore curated galleries" which lets you look through galleries."Spotlight challenges" challenges for artists which I guess give you some attention for doing them? Or just are some fun ideas for drawing."undiscovered" a category for good artists who don't get enough attention or recognition."contests and challenges" a page for contests and challenges. "connection hub" a place that shows you other artists online that you can get to know. "community critiques" critiques from the community. "features stories" stories, news, trivia on things that were written by the people here...and then it re-puts some of the categories ive already mentioned.
Today is well...its nice and organized but its missing something, and im sure you've noticed it too. I don't get to see whats being posted right now. I don't see whats new or recent. I see whats popular or whats in the following categories. I don't have a category for recent deviations so I can't see whats new that I might like that isn't divided by subject, tag, or category on "Today". It is appart of whats going on today, maybe even more so than what most of these categories have on here so it would be nice to have it on the main page as well. Aside from not having a category for recent deviations on "Today" I also have to question why we have a connection hub. Yes it gets the community together, but this is Deviant Art. If you want to be social, talk on other people's deviations get a conversation going, or go lurk in the chatrooms. I know you have them, why not point them out instead of pointing out artists to get to know? Im saying this because I saw someone say that this is an attempt to attract more people by being a more social site like facebook and I don't think thats true, but if it is then it shouldn't and this is the only trace ive found so far that points out this claim.
  Moving on we have "Watch Feed" a tab for looking at what the people you watch have done/posted. This is unfortunately a useless tab. We have messages that tell us the same thing but quicker, I don't have to scroll down to check all of it ether, or wait for it to load.
  Then we have the "Browse" tab which is what used to be the opening page for DA. Ive got it still set to newest so its nice to see they haven't gotten rid of this, if they had I would have been sad as I wouldn't have been able to see such diversity of styles of art as I do here.
  Then we have the "Whats Hot" tab which is essentially the "most popular" tab which has also been seen on "Today", another tab. Not much to say, its exactly what you'd expect it to be.
  The "Undiscovered" tab will be a welcome new change as it will give less popular artists a place to shine with their brilliant artworks. I just wonder how an artist gets on here, but that just questions.
  Lastly we have "Daily Deviations" which is...daily deviations. The pictures awarded by the people of Deviant Art with a Daily Deviation which can be recognized here. Its not a change, its just now the button for it is placed in a different spot which is easier to access.

  While some of the secondary tabs are nice and have good stuff in them, I fail to see the point in some of them. I also fail to see why it has to be a secondary tab. We could just have a "Today" button by messages,more, and submit so we could check out whats new; and by "Today" we could have "Undiscovered" so we could check out more hidden gems on this site. Then under the "Deviantart" button the first option could be "Daily Deviations" or you could have it by "Today" and "Undiscovered". Better yet, it could be the first option under "More".

  As for the asthetic of the new page...they could have kept the top dash the same and it would have been as nice and clean as it always was, it wasn't bad the way ti was so I fail to see the need to change it.

TL;DR.
Im summation, "Today" and "Undiscovered" is good, along with the "More" tab being okay, but the placement could be fixed and the secondary tab could be taken off along with the aesthetics just being the old ones.
